History/Who We AreAeXIS was formed in 2023 to bring together Advancement professionals from California in pursuit of robust professional development, networking opportunities, and shared resources. Founded as CDP (California Development Partnership) in 1999, and later known as CAPS (California Advancement Partnership for Schools), the aim of this organization has always been about advancement professionals from around the state working in partnership and service to each other. This organization has been completely volunteer-run, leveraging the wisdom and expertise of our colleagues to provide resource guides, workshops, and conferences with aspirational ideas and practical takeaways, at reasonable prices. In parallel for decades, ABADO (Association of Bay Area Development Officers) has been a vibrant group of advancement professionals who have volunteered their time to organize speaker events, networking opportunities, and the sharing of best practices in the San Francisco Bay Area. The listserv has been a consistent resource for novices and veterans alike as we navigate the fundraising landscape in Bay Area independent schools. With the creation of AeXIS, CAPS and ABADO have been subsumed into the new organization. The newly created AeXIS (Advancement Exchange for Independent Schools) envisions an even more robust set of offerings to member schools. AeXIS members will have access to an informative and strategic annual survey, monthly virtual workshop presentations, a cadre of online resources for best practices in Advancement, and an annual conference with keynote speakers, multiple sessions, and networking opportunities.
